Overreaction remedied after Israel reinstates safe DINP

DINP is removed from list of prohibited phthalates in toys

Another government recognizes the scientifically proven safety record of Di-isononylphthalate. The government of Israel has taken an important step in ensuring the safety of their children's toys by relying on thoroughly tested DINP in rather than the untested alternatives.

The Israel Ministry of Health and the Technical Committee of The Standards Institution of Israel (SII) has announced that DINP Phthalate, which appears in the Mandatory Standard SI 562 part 3, has been removed from the list of prohibited Phthalates in toys and in teething rings.

Israel's action is an example for states that are considering toy safety legislation. We hope they will recognize the safety of scientifically proven products like DINP and the unintentional consequences that occur when those products are banned.

Robert Johnson, President of Consumers for Competitive Choice (C4CC), is available to discuss the safety record of DINP and comment on the consequences of its regulation.
